Today was the day that I spontaneously decided to take the bus to school today. It was fairly warm outside, probably around 30 or so, and I had soon realized that I had gotten up too early. After a while, a flock of birds flew overhead, and it was amazing.
The New Hampshire climate had been too cold for too long for birds to have not migrated south yet, but somehow these birds had managed for the entire winter so far.
It was the most beautiful thing I've seen related to nature, at least in my stay in New Hampshire, and perhaps I'm only saying that out of exaggerated memory, induced by sleep deprivation, but for some reason I love it so much.
I also found out that I have a copy of The Catcher and the Rye. I was totally sure that I did not own that book, otherwise I would have brought it to school when we were assigned to read it last year for English. I think I might read it again after Catch 22, A Clockwork Orange, and Julius Ceasar.
To be honest, I really don't love Catch-22. It's a fine book, but I have already started reading A Clockwork Orange, and it's a lot more stimulating than Catch-22. The language is a lot simpler, but still remains intelligent.
Also, my new favorite Pixies album is Come On Pilgrim. I realized this when I heard some kind of reprisal of the beginning riff of "Caribou" in the chorus of "Levitate Me." The album has a distinct style to it, and that's what I appreciate about it the best. However, it's not as definitive as Surfer Rosa.
